Keeping bank account after leaving Germany

Hello!

I would like to inquire about the possibility of keeping my bank account after I leave Germany. I will be leaving the country soon, but I still have some pending payment transactions that I need to complete using this account. Could you please let me know if it is possible to retain the bank account and how long can I retain it? Additionally, I would like to inquire if it is possible to close the account while I am abroad.

Hello,

you can leave the account open for payment processing when you leave Germany.

When the time comes, you can close your current account online. To do this, we require a TAN-legitimised order.
Please confirm in the order that you have destroyed your debit cards and/or credit cards associated with the account (e.g. by cutting them up). Please also provide us with your bank details so that we can settle the final balance if necessary.

Please note that we will not be able to close an account without a clearing account.

Alternatively, you can also cancel the account in writing. To do this, please send us a signed written order and enclose a copy of your identity card. Send the order to the following address:
